Jacques M. Gentil & Karen Guymer both winners at the 36th National Songwriting Awards 2016
We are very proud to announce that we both were winners again at the Australian Songwriters Awards this year.
Karen won the best Ballad with her song titled 'Love Dances In The Rain' and Jacques won the best Spiritual song with his song 'Babylon'. Both songs can be heard here on gentmuse Demo page.

Karen Guymer Crowned Australian Songwriter of the Year 2015 Award Winner
4th December 2015 was another fabulous day for Karen Guymer when this time she won the Australian Songwriter of the Year Award at the 35th National Songwriters Awards. Karen took home the prestigious Easy's Trophy (named after legendary Australian band The Easybeats) and amongst many winning prizes, a $3K check sponsored by APRA (Australasian Performing Rights Society). This award dinner night saw some of our songwriting friends and collaborators win an award where however Karen's songs (throughout the whole song contest) stood out. Karen has won many songwriters awards previously including the Rudy Brandsma Award in 2010 (in the name of the founder of the ASA). Karen used to write poetry and dabbed at a few songs during her youth seems to now have found the solace she was looking for in a relationship/partnership that would make her creative mind stand out in the competitive songwriting race to 'get somewhere'.

Jacques took home the Australian Songwriter of the Year 2013 Award trophy
Jacques Mario Gentil took home the prestigious Australian Songwriter of the Year award at the end of a night of amazing winners receiving their awards. That night Jacques won 2 categories at the 34th National Songwriting Awards, a Spiritual category song titled 'When He Comes' and a Ballad category song titled 'Boys Cry Too' co-written with his partner and ex-student from his mentoring at 'Magesongs School of Songwriting' after they met in 2006.

Karen Guymer winner of the Rudy Brandsma Award
The Rudy Brandsma Award was established in 1983 in memory of the late ASA Chairman Rudy Brandsma (1944-1983). The Award is presented annually by the Board of Directors of The Australian Songwriters Association Inc in recognition of songwriting excellence by an ASA member in the course of that year’s Australian Songwriting Contest. Karen was a nominee for the award amongst 8 others including Jacques. Karen started the whole winning saga as we call it with this prestigious award. Her prize was a newly modeled Australian signature name Maton guitar. (Maton has been the sponsor of the Rudy Brandsma Award for many years).
